I know this may be a little late, and by little i mean a couple of days, but here it is none the less. The article "Virtual Communities: Cyberhood vs. Neighborhood." was assigned to the class to read and reflect on, so that is what the topic of this blog will be about. In the article the author, John Perry Barlow tells the reader about how the "old" style communities are dying and being replaced by online communities. There are many positives and negatives to the argument that all we really need are online communities. Firstly, I think that mostly everyone on this planet would need some type of human to human interaction. There are the few recluses who would prefer to be alone all their life, but that does not show the majority of the population. I know personally that I would go crazy if I weren't able to talk to other people. When you are with someone else, you can feel them, see them, hear, smell and possibly even taste them. But while online you are unable to do any of those basic functions of life.
Through this class blog experience i have heard peoples' viewpoints which i would have otherwise never been able to hear because of their shy/ quietness. I think that this assignment definitely allowed the class to become closer, in a way, by being able to hear others thoughts and opinions, but i think it would not have been the same if we had never had the class community first. If this class were to only be held online through blogging, i would never have been intrigued by any one of you, no offense. but i do not enjoy reading much and would have never been able to throw myself in this assignment if it weren't for class and being able to talk to some of you guys one on one, face to face. I think that this blog did allow me to get to know some of you people before i had a chance to talk to you, but having the human interaction is where i got to know you further.
In today's society, i think that it is very difficult to have only human interactions especially when friends and family are halfway across the country from you. The internet may be able to start friendships, but, for me at least, it really helps to sustain the friendships that i have now which i gained from neighborhoods, not cyberhoods.

My Uni Video
Yes people that is right. The moment you all (as well as I) have been waiting for...
My unicycle video is finally complete! It only took 2 months or something, but it is done. Most of the footage is about a month or two old, so it really doesn't do me and my friend justice. We have gotten a lot better since then. I just have no time to film anymore since The Miser opens this Friday.
Yes that's right the other moment you've all been waiting for. The show I am in is opening this weekend. The shows are the 18, 19 at 8:00, the 20 at 2:00and the following week on the 23, 24, 25, and 26 at 8:00 as well. It should be pretty funny, I don't really know anymore since I've been doing it for so long now.
Here's the video link. Enjoy!

show and uni
Well, there aren't too many exciting things to tell you guys about. The show that I am in is just around the corner. The Miser will be showing on April 18- 20, 23- 26 at 8:00 with matinees at 2:00 on the 19, 20 and 26. We have all been working really hard on it and would love to see as many people there as possible.
In uni news I have finally landed a trick that has taken me nearly a month on and off to pull off. Its called a unispin and it is one of the basic tricks for riding street. What you do is put the seat out in front of you and jump and while in the air you spin the uni around 180 degrees and then put your feet back on and ride it off. That is a lot easier said than done, because if you don't land it, then you can say goodbye to your shins. I was sooooo excited when I landed it the first time, I ran up and down the balcony of my dorm for a good 5 minutes. Me and my friend finally have enough footage to start editing our video, so pretty soon I'll have that up for everyone.

Uni adventures and stuff
Well everybody, I had an awesome spring break at Disneyland and Tucson. It sucks that school has started again, but I've been pretty busy with theatre stuff, the show i am in is pretty physically demanding. If anyone is interested in the shows this semester, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown is April 1 through April 6 at 8:00 and matinees at 2:00 on saturday and sunday, but it might be sold out already, so if you want tickets you might want to get there earlier at 7 to get put on the waiting list.
In Uni news i went to the skate park this past Friday and it was FREAKING AWESOME! I even have pictures from that day as well as from earlier this year that i will

thoughts and activities
So this week me and my friend tried to get as much footage for our unicycle video. We got a lot of good stuff. A pretty cool shot we got was where I jumped onto the seat of a bench, then onto the top, and dropped off of it. Hopefully pretty soon, after we get back from spring break, I will have my first video finished and up so you all can watch it.
On a sad note, because of all the hardcore-ness of my unicycle skills, I have bent one of my cranks on my uni. So I now need to get new ones pretty soon, but they can cost up to $70. ugh :( But I'm going to ride it until it breaks, lets hope it doesn't end up too painful. Note to self, no more big drops for me... at least for a while. DAMMIT!!
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is over!! We had a huge cast party! I got pretty drunk, it was awesome! Now I only have one show left, The Miser, it's going to be freakin' amazing!
I also just started pledge week for Alpha Psi Omega, a national theatre fraternity, so if you see me dressed funky this next week, that's why. It is going to be a blast though, I have already had sooooo much fun with the couple of days we have been pledging for. I also have to wear a phallic screw around my neck, and when anyone asks me what it is, I have to recite a monologue which explains it. AWESOME!!!
I'm also going to Disneyland for spring break!! It's gonna be awesome!!

Videos!
In my, almost two, years of unicycling I've seen many videos which have made me interested in many types of unicycling. I know what your thinking, there is only one type of uni-ing. "Circus people are the only ones who ride, right?" Wrong! there are many different aspects to the sport of unicycling.
There is long distance racing in which you have a big diameter tire, such as a 36" wheel
Races where you have a regulation size 24" wheel, these can be speed racing or slow, wheel walking, or one footed.
Muni, which is mountain biking on a unicycle, and yes we can go over the same terrain that mountain bikes can.

Trials, where you try to get over obstacles ranging in heights, size, shape, and distance from each other.

Freestyle, which is basically ice skating type moves but on a unicycle. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ax8s40p6bRI&feature=related
Flatland, which consists of performing tricks and using the uni in ways other than what is "normal" it is basically the same as flatland on a bmx bike. http://youtube.com/watch?v=A4SLVS0pAFg
And finally,
Street, which is using urban areas to do stunts like jumping staircases, grinding rails, and pretty much using everything as your playground.

Me!

I just got a new unicycle a few weeks ago. It is made for jumping and taking lots of abuse. So i decided to put it to the test. This was the first time that i jumped a 4 stair, and up onto a bench. So i was pretty happy with my new uni. My roommate took the pictures with this new fish eye lens that he just got, so he was also pretty excited to shoot me. The pictures are pretty sweet and make me look like a bad ass!
